Government Opens Up Immigration and Passport Center in Jinja

The ministry of internal affairs has opened up its fifth immigrations and passport control center in a bid to decentralize services.

The other centers are found in Kampala, Mbale, Gulu and Mbarara. Lt. Gen. Joseph Musanyufu, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Internal Affairs while addressing the public at the launch mentioned; “As a ministry we are responsible to bring services to the people and I am glad this has been fulfilled…This center is an indication that we do what we commit to do.”

He also noted that this the initiative would decongest Kampala city as well as facilitate in keener monitoring of corruption services. Musanyufu aldo cautioned individuals about illegal payment for services at the new officers which he declared free of charge.

Maj. Gen Apollo Kasiita Gowa, the Director Citizenship and Immigration Control while applauding the inauguration of the new center clarified that it is a fully fledged center and there would be no need for anyone to travel to Kampala.

However, he also cautioned residents against owning the premises as Basoga only center. “Now it is not for only Basoga but anyone who desires can freely access services here. We have people among you like Indians, Asians among others
