Police in Rukiga district has arrested a man suspected to have strangled to death a woman identified as Ruth Nuwabine. The murder is recorded on reference number CRB 066/2024.

The territorial police in Rukiga are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of one Ruth Nuwabine 34 yrs nyankole by tribe, a house wife and resident of Kakuto village Kashekye parish Kamwezi sub county Rukiga district.
It’s alleged that on the 15/02 /2024 at around 0700hrs at the above village, her body was found lying on a local mat in her sitting room by her children.
She is alleged to have been lastly seen on 14/02/2024 at around 2200hrs by one Ampire Meron her immediate neighbour where the deceased spent a day digging for money.
It’s further alleged that, she went back home at around 2200hrs, and had super with her children among them were;
(1) Ainemani f/j aged 10yrs,
(2) Ainemani prossy f/a aged 06yrs and,
(3)Ainebyona all pupils at St Lucia primary school.
That after having their super, the children went to their room to sleep leaving their mother in the sitting room seated on a local mat.
That later on at around 0100hrs, of 15/02/2024 they heard their mother crying and saying that Tamba why are you killing me. And that as their mother kept on yelling, they decided to go to the sitting room to check on her and only found her lying down helplessly and for them they thought that she was sleeping.
Immediately they saw one Tamba whom they knew before getting out while he was putting on a red cap and black gum boots as they feared and they went back to sleep.
The children alleges that on 15/02/2024 at around 0700hrs when they woke up to go to school and when they went to the sitting room, they called their mum but with no response to get them break fast before going to school.
They went near her and they saw some blood in the head near the ear and they realised that their mother could be no more and lifeless.
That’s when they went and alerted their immediate neighbor one Ampire Meron who went to the deceased’s home, she realised that their mother had been killed and a sign of strangulation and was half necked who went and informed the area chairperson one Biryomumaisho Milton who also informed Kamwezi police station and the matter was reported to Cps Rukiga for further management.
Postermotem was done at the scene by a Doctor from Kamwezi H /C III and handed over to the relatives for burrial.
One suspect one Tamba was finally traced and arrested to assist police in it’s investigations and currently detained at Rukiga CPS.
