A woman in Njeru Buikwe District has been robbed 10 million shillings at gunpoint. The incident according to SP Hellen Butoto the Ssezibwa regional police spokesperson happened yesterday at around 8pm at Kyabagu zone, Njeru west ward, Njeru Central Division, Njeru municipality in Buikwe district.
“It is alleged that the victim Margret Ssemeyi was robbed 10m shillings by three unknown thugs, one of them armed with a gun, and all dressed in civilian attires,” SP Butoto said.
Ssemeyi narrated that she had reached her home at Kyabagu zone and while still inside her vehicle UBE 850W a Toyota Priemo silver in colour, three people one of them holding a gun, opened the car door and put her on gun point.
“I was ordered to hand over everything I was having and I handed to them 10m shillings, a key to the depot and a smartphone with two lines in it.They then left after discharging one bullet in the air and went to unknown destination,” Ssemeyi said.
SP Butoto said some eye witnesses narrate that they later boarded a motorcycle which was not identified well.
The victim is aged 62 years, a Muganda by tribe, a business woman dealing in beer and soda depot at Nakibizi trading center. So far, the suspects are unknown gunmen. Suspects are still at large.
