As we are all aware that it’s barely days to Christmas celebrations, the Kigezi region police command and it’s territorial districts of Kabale, Rubanda, Kisoro, Kanungu, Rukungiri and Rukuga, would wish to note that; the Christmas festival is always characterized by a lot of merry making, excitements, large congregational church gathering and overnight prayers, busy transport terminals of people moving from towns to their rural homes, staging of music shows and many other associated events.

However, we would further like to high light on the security tips that there are possibilities of wrong elements who would want to use the festival season to indulge in criminal activities like; terrorism, kidnaps, sexual offenses, breakings, burglary and thefts, counter feit currency transactions by fraud stars among others.

As counter measures, we would wish to ensure the public of our operational order for the season was developed to guide us in professionally exercising our mandate of protecting life and property, preserving law and order,detecting and preventing crime and we do the above by cooperating with other sister security forces and most importantly with the public generally to ensure that we jointly police the Christmas season peacefully.

We would like to ask the members of public to remain security conscious and vigilant enough 24/7 and work closely with the local leadership and police by reporting anything of concern as early as possible.

We want to further assure the public that we’ve put more emphasis on covert and overt deployment through foot and motorized patrols for quick response for any emerging issues, but also our command center shall be functional 24/7 to monitor situations and receive concerns as they emerge.

Among other things the public need to do as security starts with us individually are;
All entertainment centres, worshipping places and gathering areas of any kind, should ensure that security is beefed up by putting metal detectors and walk through machines at entry points but also having enough personnel the Kanyamas/ bouncers to monitor activities to guarantee safety of the people.

As a community police, we would wish to ensure the public that we shall be ready to work closely with the wanainchi and treat any complain and concerns at our discretion with all the urgency they deserve to ensure that law and order prevails.

We wish everybody a happy and peaceful Christmas celebrations.
