Masses Mourn Former Makindye West Mp Kyanjo

Nationals are mourning the passing of a prominent former Member of Parliament Makindye West Hussein Kyanjo who was confirmed dead this morning.

Through a tweet from Anita Among the speaker of parliament, Kyanjo’s death was confirmed.

The speaker wrote; “It is with great pain that we received the news of the passing of our elder and former Makindye West MP Hon Hajj Hussein Kyanjo. Hajj set the bar for legislative excellence and leaves a legacy of a distinguished lawmaker, a unifying factor and a leader who exhibited integrity. Our sympathies to his family, friends and the people of Makindye West, Kampala, and Uganda at large. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”

Kyanjo died from Kibuli Muslim Hospital in Kampala at around 10am on Saturday 22 July ,2023. Burial according to arrangements is set for July 23 in Ntuuma Village in Bukomansimbi District.

Across different platforms and sects of nationals individuals have highly commended the deceased as a very exceptional politician who excercised integrity in his leadership.

Among the mourners , the National Unity platform party president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu mentioned that he had just checked on him a few weeks ago. He however commended him for his courage.

“His commitment to exposing and holding ‘untouchable’ regime officials accountable for their misdeeds earned him profound respect and admiration not just in his constituency but across our nation.”

Ssema Oziwel had this to say about Kyanjo; “MHSRIP, the ever eloquent, incorruptibles lawmaker who exhibited know how and bravey amidst a system that hates excellence.”

Ofwono Opondo, government’s spokesperson also expressed sorrow mentioning that that Kyanjo was his literature tutor in year one at the university.
“I think he had now suffered for 15 years , there was a time he was really bad , he could not speak then he came back . We thought he would put through but he just went back last year.” Kyanjo was a prominent outspoken opposition spokes person for JEEMA party until he fell ill in 2011.
