At least about 150 students of Nakanyonyi secondary school-SSS in Nagalama, Mukono district, have been hospitalized over suspected food poisoning.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire has confirmed the incident at the school and noted that Mukono police detectives have been dispatched to the school to start the investigations. Courtesy Photos (NV).
“Samples of the food they ate have been taken to the Government Analytical Laboratory in Kampala for testing as investigations continues”. He said.

By the time of filing this story, numbers of parents who have received the shocking information have increased outside the school premises, demanding to see their children.
One of the parents claimed that they have received information that more than four students have died of the suspected poison they ate in the lunch porridge and more others have been rushed to hospitals in critical conditions.
“We have been told that four children are already dead. The poison was put in the afternoon porridge they ate. We have not been allowed inside the school but we want to see our children. Let the school open the gate and give us our school, so that we can take them to good health facilities” A distressed parent said outside the school.
Another parent who identified as Nasanga Aisha, who has three students, who came in rush said she was coming from Nagalana Hospital. But she hasn’t seen any of her children. The school administration hasn’t released any statement on the situation.
