Kassanda Special Hire Driver Hammered to Death

Police in Kassanda district are investigating circumstances under which a special driver was hammered to death today morning. Wamala region police spokesperson, SP Racheal Kawala, identified the deceased as Patrick Onen.

His body was found at Ntuuma village, Kamulinjagala Parish, Kassanda Sub-county, in Kassanda district. Police said he was 47 years old. Detectives have established that Oneni owned a Toyota Canter UBN 158N which would be hired to transport items as his main source of income.

Police further noted that Onen who was a resident of Namuganga village, received a phone call today at 4 am from the yet to be known people. “They told him that he had work of transporting charcoal. He woke up and drove his motor vehicle to meet the unknown customer,” SP Kawala said.

However, at about 7 am, a man identified as Henry Kasumba while on his way to the garden at Ntuuma village, found blood, mobile phones , and a laptop bag alongside the road. After a search, Kasumba found the lifeless body of Onen lying in the bush. He informed the locals and police that were responded to the scene of crime.

Police established that Onen was hit with a hammer on the head and his neck was hacked. Police have since examined and documented the scene. “Relevant statements have been recorded to guide on investigations. The exhibits including one hammer, two mobile phones,a bag, amongst other items have been recovered at the scene of crime and will be submitted for forensic analysis,” SP Kawala said.

Police have also established that the deceased was robbed of his motor vehicle reg no, UBN 158N canter.
Body of the deceased has been taken to Kassanda HCIV for postmoterm. Police said they were doing everything within our means to have suspects arrested and brought to book.
