There was shock in Kabale district when a 44 year old prisons officer, Placidia Tumwesigye, collapsed and died on Saturday morning.
ASP Elly Mate the Kigezi regional police spokesperson said Tumwesigye whose death is recorded on CRB 560/2023 happened at Kagamarunyanjoka village, Kitumba Sub-county, Kabale district.
The deceased, according to the police, was a chief Wardress attached to Ngoma prisons, in Nakaseke district.
Police said Tumwesigye boarded Abapakasi bus from Kampala to Kabale town to attend a wedding of her relative at Mparo Rukiga district.
“At around 2 am when the bus reached Kabale town at Kigongi stage, in the process of getting out with other passengers, she fell down inside the corridor of the bus thereby becoming unconscious. She was she was taken to Rushoroza health centre where she was pronounced dead upon arrival,” ASP Mate said.
A report of sudden death was registered at Kabale police station and the
body was taken to Kabale regional referral hospital for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
