“On board were two occupants that is unidentified woman and man. It was also loaded with food stuff. It capsized due to over loading of goods and bad weather.
The woman drowned and the man was rescued by fishmongers,” Onyango said.
Police said the second incident involved a transport boat from Kiseba islands heading to Katosi in Mukono. It was carrying 11 people on board.
“It had 100 bags of charcoal, 40 bags of silver fish and other personal belongs.
It capsized between Jana and Kimmi.
Six people were rescued by another transport boat and five people are still missing,” Onyango said.
Onyango said police marines are in the waters trying to locate the missing people whether dead or alive. Police have established the cause of accident as over loading and bad weather.
“We appeal to travellers who use water transport to always have life jackets and not to over load their vessels,” Onyango said.
