A man in Kanungu has been arrested over strangling his 10 year old son to death. The suspect identified as Agaba Onacklet 46, allegedly strangled Ivan Nuwagaba yesterday.
The deceased was a pupil at Karuhinda primary school and resident of Kazirankye village Northern ward Kanungu town council Kanungu district. The case is registered on CRB 455/2023.

“It’s alleged that on the 28/06/ 2023 at about 10:00hrs the suspect sent the deceased to buy for him cigarettes of 1000=Ugx and the deceased instead bought of only 500= and ate the balance which angered the father who threatening to kill him any time he lays his hands on him,” ASP Elly Mate the Kigezi regional police spokesperson said.
The deceased out of fear has been running away from the father until yesterday the 02/07/2023 at about 13:00hrs when he targeted the victim while alone at Kanyangyende village Nothern ward Kanungu town council.
“He stealthily grabbed him and strangled him using a rope and pretended to be suicide and hanged the body under the mango tree while legs were straight on ground comfortably and the rope completely loose,” ASP Mate said.
ASP Mate said police was alerted by the area chairperson one Hellen Ayebare, crime scene was visited and documented, postmortem was done and suspect arrested and detained pending prosecution.
