Military and police have resolved to intensity security operations in Teso Sub-region after suspected cattle rustlers attack commander during night operations.

We categorically want to inform the general public in Teso that Ngariam is one of the hot spot area prone to raids from Karimojong warriors and we have earmarked the area as a crossing point for cattle rustlers to other areas in Teso.
In view of the above security has put it on 24 hour survaillance and visible patrols are in place to protect the community.
It is unfortunate that on 11/2/2023 at around 2230 hours while our personnel were on patrol, they were attacked by unknown panga wielding man who wanted cut our officer who was commanding the patrol team in the area.
The officer responded in self defence and shot him on the leg. He was rushed to Katakwi Hospital in non life threatening condition.
He was later identified by residents as Atukoi Ben Male adult 27 years resident of Aleles village, Palam subcounty, Katakwi District.
As Police we regret for the incident and non respect of the community to our patrollers.
We warn the community to desist from this habit and work with security forces as a team.
Meanwhile investigation to this matter is on going.
We shall inform you the outcome of our investigation.
