The covert team from the Directorate of Crime Intelligence -DCI has shot and killed a man identified as, Sulaiman Bisaso Segawa, on suspicion of being a member of the Allied Democratic Forces -ADF rebels.
Bisaso was killed at Katakala village, in Mityana District, in the central region of Uganda. For several years, Uganda security forces have linked some of the terror incidents registered in the country’s capital, Kampala to ADF remnants.
Dozens of juveniles, adolescents, youths, and adults have been arrested and some executed in the operations against the terror activities. Uganda registered two bomb blasts on November 16, 2021, which left nine people killed including four suspected suicide bombers.
Since then, more than 60 suspected ADF terrorists have been arrested and many others killed in Uganda and across the border in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In December last year, ADF members, according to Ugandan forces crossed into the Ntoroko district in the western region where they were met with ultimate force leaving more than 30 shot dead.
In today’s statement about Bisaso’s killing, Senior Commissioner of Police -SCP Fred Enanga, said he was found with two other people who were arrested including a female. Security says Bisaso has been on their wanted list for a long time until his days run out today.
“Two other ADF terrorists, who included a Medic and female were arrested after they surrendered. The top ADF leader was on our wanted list for masterminding the attacks on various police stations, murders, and violence on police officers and civilians,” Enanga said.
Security forces have said today’s events are another reminder that the hunt for ADF remnants will continue including other terror-linked groups. Enanga said forces will not relent in their zeal to pursue all terrorists and violent extremists, who victimize Ugandans.
