Detectives in Rukungiri are hunting for suspects who allegedly murdered an unidentified male adult for unknown reasons.
Assistant Superintendent of Police – Elly Mate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson, said information was received from Buyanja Sub-county the Local Council Three chairperson that there was a dead body of an unidentified person lying in the compound of one Sylvia Bashabe’s home.
Bashabe is a resident of Nyakasharara cell, Rubanga Parish Buyanja Sub-county, in Rukungiri District.
“It is alleged that, as it was coming to morning hours of yesterday at around 3am, while Sylvia Bashabe was inside her house sleeping, all of a sudden heard something falling near the door way of her house,” Mate said.
He added that: “Shortly after, she again heard some body like was snoring which forced her to wake up and see what was happening, only to see a man lying besides the verandah of her house.”
Bashabe reportedly called her neighbors & local leaders who came & upon checking on the said man, he was already dead.
“Police was informed, scene was visited and documented, body was taken to Rwakabengo health centre mortuary for postmortem,” Mate said.
Police has urged anyone who is missing his or her dear one to visit the mortuary so that the deceased can be identified and taken for burial.
“Inquiries are underway and whoever may be having information that can lead to the perpetrators, should volunteer it so that are brought to book,” Mate said.
On the same day of yesterday, police recovered unidentified body of a woman in Kyengera town council, Wakiso district.
She was first raped and then stabbed severally by yet to be identified killers. Police and locals found a knife that was used to stab her head, chest, stomach, ribs and private parts.
