Uganda’s topmost military commander, Gen Wilson Mbadi, has survived dying in a road crash in the country’s capital Kampala.

Gen Mbadi, who moves by the title of Chief of Defence Forces – CDF, was knocked on Thursday night at a junction that joins Kampala – Jinja highway.

SP Gamal said Ssemusu drove off after knocking the General’s vehicle but he was pursued by the bodyguard who shot its tyres forcing it to overturn.

Ssemusu, according to SP Gamal, was arrested and currently detained at Jinja Road police station under case reference Tar 495/2022.

Police say Ssemusu was tested for alcohol and his alcohol content was at 0.62mg/ml.

Gen Mbadi was early this week in news for allegedly detaining a university student who called his daughter seeking for help over her incarcerated brother.

The female student having studied with the CDF’s daughter sought by calling her old school mate would convince her father to direct the Army’s spy agency the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence-CMI to release her brother.

But instead, Lorna was picked by the same CMI and kept incommunicado for two days until her siblings came out in the media.
