Police in Rukiga district has arrested a woman accused of killing her 70-year-old father who had allegedly assaulted her other.
Trouble, according to residents of Butale ward, Muhanga town council, started when David Rwakisarara, 70, picked a quarrel with wife Queen Christine, 65, for yet to be known reasons. Rwakisarara reportedly injured Queen on the fore head and on the nose.
Kigezi police spokesperson, Elly Mate, said Queen was rushed to Goodwill clinic in Muhanga by a Boda-boda rider (motorcycle taxi) for medical attention. However, Rwakisarara who had also sustained injuries remained home with daughter Loyce who was joined by other locals and they beat him to death.
“The husband now the deceased remained at home also with minor injuries on the hand and ear. It’s further alleged that the daughter of the deceased only identified as Loyce remained home and was later joined by others who are not yet identified, attacked him and lynched him to death,” Mate said.
Rukiga district Criminal Investigations Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police –ASP William Mbahimba, visited the scene and left with three suspects including Loyce. ASP Mbahimba and his team of detectives picked exhibits among others sticks and stones used to beat Rwakisarara to death.
Similarly, another 70-year-old woman has been lynched in Rubanda district by locals accusing him of bewitching a 16-year-old girl to death. The 70-year-old victim of mob action has been identified as Bonekonsira Tusiime.
The girl Tusiime is accused of bewitching was a resident of Kinyogo village Ntungamo parish. The girl died in a hospital in Kabale town yesterday. Mate said the mob first attacked Tasiime’s home but she escaped with family members. The charged residents who were majorly relatives of deceased Natukunda set a house ablaze but they did not stop until they hunted for Tusiime and clobbered her to death.
“A mob suspected to consist of relatives of Natukunda attacked the family of Bonekonsira at their home but managed to escape for their lives. The group then set their house on fire and hunted for Bonekonsira whom they killed from Mataka village, Kiyebe parish,” Mate said.
Police found Tusiime’s body with multiple injuries on the head. The post mortem was done at scene by police surgeon. Scene of crime officers picked exhibits such as sticks and ash recovered. The suspects mostly relatives of deceased teenager Natukunda are still hiding as they are also being hunted by relatives of Tusiime for revenge.
