Towing Truck Driver Electrocuted in Nabbingo

Assistant Superintendent of Police –ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, who is also the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, confirmed Kabanda’s death.

Yusuf Kikolo Ssemujju, a towing truck driver has been electrocuted in Nabbingo, Kyengera town council, Wakiso District.

Deputy police spokesperson for Kampala, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, said police received a distress call from Tega -Nabbingo about an electrocution that had taken place in the area at around 11am.

ASP Owoyesigyire said when police reached the scene, they established that Ssemuju 35, a break down service operater in Nateete and also resident of the same area, had been electrocuted to death.

Police kick started inquiries right away and was able to understand that Ssemujju had gone to Tega to erect a water tank stand using his vehicle which has a crane. However, in the process, the stand touched 132k voltage line connecting power from Mutundwe to Kabulasoke.

Ssemujju was operating the vehicle registration number UAK 673C and was electrocuted to death. Nonetheless, Ssemujju’s turn boy survived with minor injuries. The body of the deceased was conveyed to Kampala Capital City Authority morgue based at Mulago for Postmortem.

Police informed UMEME and UEDCL that safely removed Ssemujju’s towing truck from electricity transmission lines.
