A 47-year-old businessman has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen at the gate of his home in Manja Cell, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.
The deceased, identified as Ssekandi Edirisa, was reportedly attacked at around 11pm on Saturday, October 10, 2026, shortly after returning home with his wife and son.
According to preliminary police information, Ssekandi and his family had left their workplace in Kiteemu Trading Centre at around 9:30pm and were travelling home in a Subaru Forester, registration number UA 401DN.
The attackers reportedly ambushed the family as they arrived at their gate and opened fire, killing Ssekandi instantly.
Police have since launched investigations into the fatal shooting as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify the suspects. “The assailants are still at large, and efforts are underway to identify, trace and apprehend them so that they can be brought to justice,” said SP Rachael Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
Kawala appealed to members of the public with credible information that could help investigators to report to the nearest police station. The shooting has raised concerns about the safety of residents in the area, although police have not yet disclosed a possible motive for the killing.
