A team of detectives at Nateete police division were yesterday left in shock as suspect in the gruesome double murder at Dave Hotel and Suites narrated how he ended the lives of Manager, Shivan Asasira and security guard, Lawrence Musinguzi.
Allan Ssempala, said his intention wasn’t to kill the two people but the situation in the wee hours of Saturday forced him to exterminate their lives. Ssempala said he first came to the hotel two weeks ago with his lover and they spent all the eight million shillings he had stolen from his brother in-law.
When the money reduced, Ssempala said the girlfriend abandoned him and he too went to search for more money but he wasn’t successful. On the weekend, Ssempala said he returned to the hotel, booked a room and also admired the security guard mobile phone.
“In the night, I pretended that there was a problem in my room and I convinced the security guard to help me. When he entered my room, I scared him with a knife in order to give me the mobile phone but he declined. I first stabbed him with mercy but he started making irritating noise and I decided to kill him,” Ssempala said.
Asasira who had already heard suspicious noise started calling the security guard but he did not respond. She decided to call his mobile phone but it wasn’t being answered. It was later switched off and she became more suspicious.
“I saw the manager looking for the security guard. She started calling on the mobile phone and I decided to switch it off. I moved out of the hotel with the security guard’s mobile phone. However, my instincts told me that the manager had probably seen me or could call the police. I went back and also stabbed her to death,” Ssempala said.
The security team which included soldiers took back Ssempala to the crime scene where he demonstrated how he killed Asasira and Musinguzi. Asasira was a wife to Bugiri District Police Commander.
Obadia Ekenu, who spearheaded a team that tracked and arrested Ssempala said he will be arraigned in courts of law within the course of this week since all the necessary evidence including his own confession have been obtained.
Ssempala insists that his intention wasn’t to kill the deceased. He, however, failed to answer questions on why he came with a knife if he wasn’t ready to commit murder. Police also visited the hotel rooms in which Ssempala stabbed Asasira and Musinguzi to death.
Gruesome killings involving stabbing and strangulation have dominated news in greater Kampala in the last 10 days. The infamous murders include TikToker Diana Namulinde who was strangled at her apartment in Kyanja, Asasira and Musinguzi and then UCU Dean of Students Affairs Pamela Ruth Tumwebaze.
