Fresh details have emerged indicating that killed Masajja teenage mother, Sarah Karungi, had disappeared from parents, in Kyenjojo district last year while in Senior Four. Karungi was stubbed to death by the father of her four months old baby Rogers Ayesige, on Sunday night.
Karungi’s relatives have since come out indicating that they have been searching for her because she abruptly disappeared from school when she was in Senior Four. The relatives have told police that they were shocked to get a call from Ayesige’s relatives informing them that their daughter had died.

“It was a shock to us when we received a call from Ayesige’s relatives informing us that Sarah Karungi had died. We later learnt that she had been killed by the man who made her disappear. To our surprise, Ayesige’s family are our neighbours in Kyenjojo and we didn’t know that it is their son who made Sarah disappear from us,” a one Jane said.
Ayesige had since told police that he stabbed Karungi for cheating on him with his brother. According to Ayesige, he had severally warned Karungi to stop cheating on his with his brother but she did not listen.
“It is true I stabbed her four times with a knife. She had been cheating on me with my brother. I told her to stop but she did not listen to me. She kept denying it until I decided to show her that I was tired of her cheating,” Ayesige said.
Ayesige and Karungi were living as husband and wife at Hadijah Nalubega’s rentals at Kikajjo, Masajja, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality, in Wakiso District. According to Namutebi, the couple lived a happy life and there was no anytime they had them quarreling over anything.
“It is a shock to me. These people came as a couple in August last year. The woman was pregnant and she gave birth when they were here. They looked to be in much love and they were always laughing together and no one could suspect that they had any serious misunderstanding,” Namutebi said.
John Baptist Kiyaga, who is also a neighbour and village leader condemned Ayesige’s act. He said if he had sought for advice, he could have avoided murdering the mother of his four months baby.
“Many youth always want to solve marital matters on their own which is sometimes very wrong. We have been told that this man was merely suspecting his wife to be cheating. If he had sought for advice, he would have probably not committed this crime which is going to ruin his life forever,” Kiyaga said.
Ayesige was rescued by police after the locals gathered on the door with the intention of lynching him. Police had to fire in the air in order to disperse the visibly charged crowd. Out of anger, the locals pelted police with stones as Ayesige was being rescued from the jaws of death. The suspect is also aged 21 and there is a rumour that they were all in school when they fell in love and ended up become parents at a tender age.
Jane said they didn’t know that Karungi had even given birth. She demanded that whoever has Karungi’s baby should give it to them so that they can raise it as the only precious item they have remained with.
