In addition, execution of government guarantee to host AFCON 2027 to be submitted to CAF and then signing off and submission of the hosting agreement after CAF bidding declarations .

The stadia being looked at for construction is one in Lira , Aki Bua stadium and another in Fort Portal Buhinga Stadium or Hoima City Stadium in Hoima.

According to Ogwang , the Ministry of Education and Sports is committed to this cause to see the development of Uganda infra structure as well as showcase the nation’s potential come 2027.

Some members of parliament however were sceptical over mismanagement of funds . Katemba Solomon from Bukomansimbi South pleaded with all planning to swindle funds during preparations for AFCON through dubious deals not to as was the case during CHOGM in 2007.

He said; “When we got CHOGM, the individual hungry & most Gov’t officials saw it as a cash cow they stole all the money, I would like to request you, the hungry, money embezzlers and thieves, this time around, take a leave on this, so that we can achieve our historical dream.”

FUFA president Moses Hamis Magogo explained that the money would still be used as expenditure for the events. He said, “The 30m USD will not be money paid just to CAF but put in a bank account controlled by CAF for the event expenses like accommodation, travels, boarding etc. This money will actually be spent in Uganda to service providers. It is just a guarantee to be sure expenses will be paid.”
