Uganda People’s Defence Forces -UPDF in Somalia have killed two Al-Shabaab militant following a fire exchange at Beledamin- Lower Shabelle region. Maj Peter Mugisa, said Al-Shabaab had to come to attack but they fell into African Transition Mission in Somalia -ATMIS ambush.
“As a result, 02 Alshabaab fighters were killed, 02 Submachine Guns (SMGs) and 06 Magazines with 130 rounds of ammunition were charged,” Maj Mugisa said.

UPDF said the splinter group of Alshabaab militants have been extorting illegal taxes and food items from farmers. “The loss of their fighters is a relief to civilians who have grappled with violent criminal acts meted out by Alshabaab terrorists,” Maj Mugisa said.
The Beledamin is an agricultural area of about 82 kms Southwest of Mogadishu in Lower Shabelle under the control of UPDF. Al-Shabaab a month ago attacked UPDF soldiers and killed 54 while others were taken as hostages.
