President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has re-appointed his son, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to command his guard unit dubbed the Special Forces Command –SFC.

Museveni, who has been rapidly promoting Kainerugaba, has today bounced him back to SFC command after he dropped him almost two years ago. Museveni in 2018 replaced his son with Maj Don Nabasa who he also dropped and replaced him with Maj Gen James Birungi.

Kainerugaba has been serving as Special Advisor on Security Operations to his father. But of recent he has been spending a lot of time on twitter praising his father. Kainerugaba also uses social media platforms to confront whoever he perceives to be threatening or castigating his father’s 35 years’ rule.

Since Kainerugaba has been returned to SFC command, Maj Gen Birungi has been sent to South Sudan. Maj Gen Paul Lokech, who has been in South Sudan has been appointed deputy Inspector General of Police replacing Maj Gen Stephen Muzeeyi Sabiiti. Sabiiti has been returned to Defence ministry headquarters in Mbuya waiting for redeployment.

Maj Gen Sabiiti was appointed to be deputy to IGP Martin Ochola, whose has also been awarded a three-year contract. Ochola and Sabiiti took over the mantle of police leadership on March 4, 2018 after Museveni sacked then IGP Gen Edward Kale Kayihura.
