Most people become confined when tragedies happen in their life. But not US President elect Joe Biden. In his mid-20s, Biden lost his wife Neilia Hunter alongside 13 months old daughter Naomi in a road accident in 1972.
At the time, Biden had had been voted as Delaware Senator thus becoming one of the youngest Senators US had ever had. But the death of Neilia and Naomi in a car accident when a tractor loaded with corn rammed into them almost ruined Biden’s life.
The accident that occurred at Chevrolet station wagon, made Biden think of committing suicide as US media report. Biden, reportedly thought of terminating his life not once or twice but several times until he recovered from depression.
Like any other couple in their early years of marriage, Biden and Neilia were in real love. Biden is quoted by US media that he had thought winning Delaware was going to change his family’s life but that didn’t happen as wife and daughter died in an accident even before he took oath. As a result, Biden swore in as Senator on their deathbed.
Had it not been his two sons Joseph Biden and Robert Hunter Biden, who survived the nasty accident, Biden admits that he could have killed himself. But he thought of living Joseph and Robert with no father and mother and eventually changed his mind. As if that was not enough, Joseph Biden succumbed to brain cancer at the age of 42.
Joe Biden has become US’s 46th President after garnering more electoral votes. Biden has also defeated incumbent Donald Trump in popular vote. Although Trump hasn’t conceded defeat, Biden has already been declared US president elect with 273 electoral votes. At 78, he has also become the oldest president US has ever had.
Besides being President Barrack Obama’s Vice, Biden has been a Senator for over 50 years. Like Obama who came in 2008 when the World was facing economic recess, Biden has a task of fighting Corona Virus Disease that has claimed over 234000 people in US in the last 10 months but also left millions with no jobs.
