Police Arrest 58 Suspects in Kampala Metropolitan Operations

KAMPALA: Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested 58 suspects in a series of targeted operations conducted across different areas of the metropolitan region between September 30 and October 1, 2026.

The operations targeted areas identified by police as crime-prone and were aimed at disrupting suspected criminal activities and improving public safety.

In Kampala Central, police carried out operations in Nakasero, Biwoloma, Nile Coach, Mini Price and Kisekka, resulting in the arrest of 18 suspects. The suspects were detained at Central Police Station Kampala pending further legal action.

In Entebbe, seven suspects were arrested during an operation in Kitala Cell, an area locally known as Bagdadi along Garuga Road. Police said the operation targeted people suspected of engaging in activities that disturb the community during late hours.

Suspected narcotic substances were recovered during the operation, while two of the suspects were allegedly arrested while attempting to break into a shop.

At Kisubi, 15 suspects were arrested in the Bugiri-Kiwulwe area following reports of criminal activities linked to the smoking and distribution of cannabis at Mwaalo landing site. Police said suspected cannabis seeds and rolled sticks were recovered.

In Kasangati, operations were conducted in Nakwero A and Lusajja, as well as Kazinga and Bulamu. Police said 14 suspects were arrested in Nakwero and Lusajja, while four others were arrested in Kazinga and Bulamu for possession of suspected narcotic substances.

According to police, all the suspects are being processed in accordance with the law and will be taken to court where appropriate.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said police would continue conducting targeted operations, patrols, surveillance and community policing in identified crime-prone areas.

Police have also urged members of the public to provide information about suspected criminal activities in their communities.
