The Faith Namata, a student of Kitebi Secondary School, Bunamwaya, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality, has been found murdered after going missing for almost three days. Namata, who was reported missing by the mother Doreen Nabawanuka accompanied by Regina Nabawanuka and teachers was found dumped by the roadside by the locals who alerted police.

Police collected the body and conveyed it to the City mortuary where the mother and other relatives were tipped that a body of a young female had been collected on the roadside by police.
Upon arriving at Mulago mortuary, Nabawanuka and others confirmed it was Namata who they had been searching for. Nabawanuka said she last saw her daughter mid last week and she promised to return to her home during holidays since she was staying with the grandmother.
“My daughter promised to come back and see me and we spend some good time together. I didn’t know that she was saying bye to me for good. My daughter was in S.3 and was promising in her studies,” Nabawanuka said.
Locals have since told Nabawanuka and police that Namata was probably killed by her boyfriend identified as Kakande for yet to be established reasons. Police information shows at least three residents of Bunamwaya show the girl walking with Kakande between 7:30pm and 8:30pm as they seemed to be in deep love.
“The locals have told police that they saw the boy Kakande with my daughter. She was living with her grandmother and I thought she was at school. When the grandmother called me that she had not returned home, I was shocked because I couldn’t suspect her to be involved in anything bad. We were hopeful that she would return alive,” Nabawanuka said.
Locals and police searched for Kakande’s rented room in Bunamwaya town but he had already shifted. However, Kakande’s friend whose name police have concealed revealed where he had gone and he was found in his new hideout.
Namata’s murder case is being handled by Bunamwaya police and Nateete Police Division. Detectives have since started interrogating Kakande with the view of understanding what could have prompted him killed his girlfriend.
At the time of filing this story, Namata’s body had been returned to her grandmother’s home in Bunamwaya as plans to transport it to Mityana for burial were underway. However, the deceased’s mother Nabawanuka was also rushed to a nearby health amenity as she collapsed repeated upon seeing her daughter’s body in the casket.
