Madi-Okollo Impounds 669 Cattled in Balalo Eviction Operation

At least 669 herds of cattle were impounded in Madi-Okollo operations against Balalo (pastoralists) in respect to President Yoweri Museveni directive. The operation dubbed “Operation Harmony’ has been ongoing with the help of military and police as well district security committees.

Madi-Okollo operation was led by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Joshua Masereka, District Police Commander (DPC), SP Aggrey Twesigye, and Internal Security Organisation (ISO) and Other members of the District Security Committee.

“This was conducted at Toliova village Bandili Parish Rhinocamp Sub county, Madiokollo District. During the operation, 669 Heads of cattle Belonging to Different Owners were Impounded being kept at the holding ground at Toliovo Rhino camp S/County pending Exit,” SP Jimmy Bayiga, the West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson said.

According to SP Bayiga, the 669 heads of Cattle impounded are owned by the different individuals including community members. “Operation Harmony is progressing well without any Registered cases of Lost animals, theft and Corruption Tendencies among the stakeholders involved. The communities are urged to remain Vigilant and Desist from any practices which can Jeopardize the operation,” SP Bayiga said.
