S6 Student Drowns to Death at Seeta High School

Police in Kampala Metropolitan East are investigating circumstances under which a Senior Six student, Kevin Nsamba, drown to death on Sunday evening at Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus, in Mukono District. The case is recorded under case reference DEF033/2025. Police sources said Nsamba’s incident was brought to police attention by Davis Kafumbe, aged 43, and serving as Principal of Seeta High School.

According to Kafumbe, a resident of Kyembejja zone, NaalyaVillage, Kira Division in Wakiso District, Nsamba drowned at around 5:30pm. Kafumbe informed police that Nsamba, who was a Muganda by tribe was a boarding student at Seeta High School Mbalala-Mukono.

Nsamba, according to the school statement first played football with colleagues and thereafter they ran directly to the school swimming pool. “They met students who were training at pool with their coach a one Kato Edirisa. The deceased and colleagues undressed and he jumped into the swimming pool via deep end,” source said quoting Kafumbe’s statement.

Police said at around 10pm after the movie show, his colleagues traced for the deceased but could not find him. In the morning of Monday, the dorm captain reported the incident of missing student to the chief warden and the school administration and search of the missing student commenced.

Later on, the matter was as well reported to Mbalala Police by Davis Kafumbe the School Principal. Police opened a case file of suspected drowning at Mbalala Police station vide SD REF.19/04/08/2025 and later to Mukono police Station vide MKN DEF 033/2025

Seeta High School premises and swimming pool side were visited by Kampala East Regional Criminal Investigations Department head Detective Superintendent of Police D/SP Naboth Kusiima and Scene of Crime Officers –SOCCOs led by Inspector of Police –IP Kayondo and Mukono Police Station CID boss Detective SP Rogers Twesige Walusimbi.

SP Kusiima and SP Twesige were accompanied by In-charge Fire and rescue-Mukono and ICT team from Forensics. Kafumbe and his staff informed Nsamba’s parents. A search in the swimming pool led to the discovery of Nsamba’s body.

Police decided to retrieve the school’s Closed Circuit Television –CCTV camera facing the swimming pool. The footage was viewed which showed the deceased jumping into swimming pool via the deep end and was seen popping out once and was never seen again.

“It was found out that at the time of the incident, the Swimming pool attendant was as well present attending to other trainees. The Deceased was an S.6 Student of science class offering PCM/ICT,” source said.

Nsamba’s body was taken to Mulago hospital for a postmortem. It has since been established that Nsamba had been a student of Seeta High School since Senior One. “The deceased was on bursary offered to him by school management having performed well at O Level results,” sources added. Kato Edirisa, the school swimming trainer has since been arrested to aid in the investigations.
