A number of dignitaries have warmed up to the Uganda South Africa Trade Tourism and Investment Summit Day 1 with their attendance in person.

The summit which is to run from September 5-6,2023 at Speke Resort Munyoyo is aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries as well as boost trade and investment.
This has been to be the second time for such an arrangement and this year’s summit s running under the theme; “To accelerate investment and foster trade between Uganda and South Africa.”
Among the dignitaries in attendance is the Minister of State for Animal Industry Bright Rwamirama and Odrek Rwabogo. Among others are representatives of several trade companies across entities like banks, telecom companies, agricultural traders and Insurance companies among others.

From South Africa also, the Trade, Industry and Competition Deputy Minister, Nomalungelo Gina, has led a delegation of 65 South African business representatives.
This summit has a particular focus on agriculture and agro-processing, Information Communication and Technology, manufacturing, energy and oil and gas according to the organizers.
In record, the current status of bilateral trade is that South African exports to Uganda have decreased from R2.1 billion in 2018 to to R1.7 billion in 2022, while South Africa’s imports from Uganda have increased from R102 million to R304 million during the same timeframe.
