Court has released comedian Maulana who was arrested, charged and remanded on Monday this week over child neglect cases.
Maulana is accused of not taking care of his three children and letting the burden be carried by their mother. However, Maulana has been ordered by court to pay 10 million shillings every year to his wife as a fee of taking care of his children.
The 10 million shillings has left many Ugandans giving divergent views as some say its not even enough to care for the children’s school fees, feeding, medical care and rent.
Others believe the money is too much which translates to over 800,000 shillings per month. Some have asked whether court knows how much Maulana earns every month before landing him such a sentence.
However, Maulana before he was arrested said he made all attempts to get his children from their mother but all was in vain.
Maulana added that the mother of his children once attempted to give him poison and also sedated herself. Maulana thinks the mother of his children has a mental problem.
