Thugs Rob Chinese National UGX 71M

Police in Mbale are hunting for thugs who allegedly robbed a Chinese national 71 million shillings which he was going to pay to company workers. The case that is registered on SD REF 53/22/04/2023 CPS Mbale, involved five thugs who pursued the victim’s Wish after he had withdrawn money from Stanbic branch.

Police have identified the Chinese as Li Tianben, 30, who serves as assistant manager of China Railway Services Group contracted to refurbish Kufu-Magale Road in Namisindwa District. Tianbeng was being driven in a Toyota Wish UBK 792L while their pursuers were driving UAM 091U of the same make.

It is alleged that on their way to Namisindwa to pay their workers at around 09:20 am, they were intercepted at Lwoki Village, Bombobi Parish, Bumbobi Sub County, Mbale District. The robbers who were five in number, if which four were camouflaged in Field Force Unit (FFU) and a civilian driver. The camouflaged ones jumped into the vehicle and forced them to drive back to Mbale.

“They claim when they reached at Bungokho, the driver was thrown out and the thugs continued with the Chinese. They were followed by Bodaboda up to Nambigana, in Butaleja where their driver of the motor vehicle UAM 091U lost control and he was bitten to death by the mob,” police source said.

At the murder scene of suspects’ driver, police recovered one mobile phone and photocopy of the driving license in the name of Nure Kubuluku Nure. His body taken to Mbale mortuary and the vehicle UAM 091U Toyota Wish silver in colour was towed to Nabitana police.

Four thugs who continued with the Chinese in his own vehicle UBK 792L, were pursued by Elgon Flying Squad Unit up to Tirinyi Town Council, in Kibuku District where they abandoned the car and Chinese.

“The thugs jumped onto waiting motorcycles and varnished. At this point, the Chinese says he was robbed of seventy-one million (Ugx71,000,000), his passport, mobile phone and the driver’s mobile phone. The driver is admitted at Mbale General Clinic, Mbale City. The vehicle UBK 792L a Toyota Wish was recovered,” police source said.
