Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson said the incident occurred yesterday night at Roza Market located in Muzana Zone, Kisenyi 1 parish, Central Division, Kampala City.

“It is alleged that the deceased had a disagreement with the newly deployed security guard when he attempted to access the premises to talk to his boss and was pushed away. This prompted Muhoozi to cork his gun, and a scuffle ensued after Christian attempted to grab the corked gun,” Owoyesigyire said.

According to police a bystander intervened and managed to separate the two, but the deceased walked away in the opposite direction. However, Muhoozi shot Christian from behind, leading to his untimely death.

“Upon receiving the report, the police managed to respond at the scene, where they found Christian lying in a pool of blood. Unfortunately, he had already succumbed to his injuries, and his body was conveyed to the City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem,” Owoyesigyire said.

Police said Muhoozi later handed himself over to his supervisor, who brought him to Old Kampala Police station, where he is currently detained.

“We strongly condemn this act of murder, which occurred even after the situation had been de-escalated. We urge private security company supervisors to carefully assess the characters of the people they hire to avoid such incidents in the future,” Owoyesigyire said.

Owoyesigyire said police will continue with their investigation, and more details will be availed to the public as soon as possible.
