The police have warned the public to be vigilant with misleading or fake online goods and services adverts.
Senior Commissioner of Police, Fred Enanga, said the police cyber unit is registering several cases of people who have been conned of the money via the internet and social media platforms with fake or non-existent goods and services.
Enanga said people need to be very careful with cheaper goods being sold online because they maybe tricks for fraudsters or the goods being sold could be fake or dangerous health wise.
Police urges the public to always get a second thought about goods or services being offered online and should not rush to make payments before confirming whether the goods are genuine or whether the alleged seller or supplier exists and is known.
Away from the fake sellers, police say there also to thugs online who disguise as genuine buyers and sometimes make lucrative orders that excite the sellers. But in the end, the sellers or suppliers also get duped, conned or cheated of their goods or sometimes criminals hurt them.
