The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has disqualified Hudah Namuwonge a Senior Four candidate at Kawempe Standard School from continuing with her final exams after guardian confessed to hiring a Mercinary to sit for her exams.
Jennifer Kalule the UNEB spokesperson said Namuwonge had been taken innocent but her guardian’s confession in Nabweru court has climaxed the decision to stop her from continuing sitting exams.
Kalule explained that UNEB policy is that once a student is caught cheating exams, he or she is disqualified. Amina Nalwadda the aunt to Namuwonge told court that she had hired a male student to do exams for her repeating child.
Court upon listening to Nalwadda’s own confession, court sentenced her to one year in jail or pay a fine of UGX 4.8M.
Kalule explained that in the first week of S4 exams, they recorded eight other cases of examination malpractice in various districts.
In Kagadi district, an impersonator was found sitting exams for another candidate. This happened at Bwikara secondary school.
In Butebo district, an impersonator moved out to call the student he was sitting exams for to hand in the paper but the invigilators and scouts detected the move very fast.
