When Robert Mushabiro sent his six-year-old son to the stream, he did not imagine that he would return home in a coffin. Two days ago (Wednesday), Mushabiro sent Isiah Akatusinguza to collect water at around midday but he never returned.
Mushabiro a resident of Kamuli village in Rukungiri Municipality rushed to the stream but he got shocked when he only found a jerrycan and the son was out of sight. He launched a hunt for his son but in vain. He filed a case of a missing person at Rukungiri Central Police Station and afterwards continued with the search for his son.
He was joined by the locals but the first and second day search did not yield any positive results. It was until on Friday morning when Akatusinguza was discovered dead in the tree plantation belonging to one Ezra Rwamwehare several kilometres from their home.
Rwamwehare is a resident of Rwobusi village, Kyamakanda parish, Buyanja subcounty. It is not yet clear how Akatusinguza left Rukungiri Municipality up to Buyanja subcounty where he was found dead.
Inspector of Police –IP Elly Mate, the Kigezi region spokesperson, said police picked the body and immediately conducted. The puzzle is now on establishing how Akatusinguza was perhaps grabbed and whisked to his death site.
The boy who left his father’s home in perhaps a jovial mood was on Friday afternoon returned to the parents and relatives in a coffin. Police, according to the markings found on the body, suspect he was strangled to death. But the motive is not yet known. The murder of the innocent soul is being probed in case file RRI CRB 1395/2021.
