A truck driver from Kenya has perished in a road accident that occurred in Kabale district on Friday evening.
Aged 49, Juma Kuria, met his death when his truck KBX 799D/ZE5631 lost control and overturned killing him on the spot. Elly Mate, the Kigezi police spokesperson, said Kuria was driving from Mbarara heading towards Kabale.
Kuria was a resident of Kiyambu, Mombasa City, Kenya. It is alleged he failed to negotiate Nkumbura corner. Traffic police rushed to the scene but the driver was already dead. His body was taken to Kabale hospital.
However, his killer truck was left at the scene since it needed towing vehicle which was not readily available. Mate said Kuria’s vehicle was some metres off-road but it needed to be pulled to the yard by breakdown for police protection and investigations.
Nevertheless, Mate said police suspect Kuria’s trucker overturned because he was driving recklessly. Relatedly, a serious accident happened when an Isuzu Double Cabin UG0100Q cruised by, Fredrick Mpanga, a resident of Sonde, Namugongo, Mukono district knocked a Bajaj UEU450F that was being ridden by one Amos Twinomujuni 21.
It also happened at Nyakanengo Kabale district. Mpanga and Twinomujuni collusion happened two hours before Kuria’s. Mpanga and Twinomujuni were rushed to Bukinda Health Centre IV while the incident is being investigated on file TAR 31/2020 refers.
